2016 Twenty-Eight Eighty Reserve
Twenty-Eight Eighty Reserve is bottled from one select barrel of wine – the very best of the 2016 Backyard harvest. It is ravishing…awash with plummy, berry fruit and anchored by gravelly tones. Family tended Grenache, Petite Sirah, and Syrah commingle in a co-ferment of intriguing possibilities. The vintage brings a random fruitfulness to each variety held within the vineyard; the resulting concept of vintage and place is exalted in a ‘this is happening’ happening. Just 24 cases produced.
WINEMAKING NOTES: The estate fruit was handpicked and co-fermented; 10% whole-cluster. Hand punch-downs added elegance while indigenous yeast preserved sense of place. Pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation and aged in second turn French Oak.
